but not THIS hot!
It has been in the 90s for three days now, and we are in Maine, where our house is not air-conditioned, instead of Cambridge, where it is. Sigh. Surely a thunderstorm will come soon and put an end to this.
But the weekend of the 4th was lovely, with grandchildren here, dashing around on the lawn at twilight, with sparklers. Last evening Martin and I went to the local air-conditioned pub and ate burgers while we watched the Red Sox on a wall-sized TV. And today my son is taking time off from his law practice in Portland to come up and put his boat in the lake
Here is an interview I've just done (for an interesting website I hadn't been familiar with):

Martin goes back to Cambridge tomorrow and I will be on my own until company arrives next week. Also, next week, I have an appointment to photograph a child. I used to---YEARS ago---do that professionally but back then it was using a darkroom! Now it will be digital—much easier—and fun to undertake it again. Here in my studio I have framed photos on the wall of many of those kids, now adults, whom I photographed years ago. Let me see if I can get snapshots of a few:
The girl on the jacket of Number the Stars dates back to that time as well (and she now has four children; it was that long ago!) I haven't kept track of most of these others but they are all grown up now, of course. Time to start fresh! With a four year old named Lexi next week.
These pictures are just beautiful!
Thanks also for the link. I enjoyed your words very much. Mostly I liked your advice for aspiring writers. Your insight is always like looking into a treasure chest. This is how I prefer to picture grandparents. Giving away some of their experiences to the young ones. Always feels like sitting around a fire with you and listening to your stories.
It's pretty hot in Germany, too. Today we got a summer weather timeout. I sit at my window and enjoy the a cool breeze but tomorrow it will be hot again.
Many greetings to you!

Oh, Dandelion Cottage! I remember that book! I remember reading it intently after the kids were put to bed on one of my first babysitting jobs. . . . .
